Why Suasor exists

I’m Toby. I built Suasor because a system I made for myself worked so well it felt unfair to keep it private.

Like a lot of founders, I know things worth saying and almost never say them in public. Not because I don’t have the material — because writing is a second job. An evening per post, a blank page, and the nagging sense that whatever I’d write wouldn’t sound like me anyway. So the posts never happened, and the people who should have found me never did.

The thing is, I don’t struggle to talk. None of us do. Get me going on something I’ve actually lived and I’ll tell you the real story — the client who almost left, the deal that closed on fit before anyone mentioned price. The gap was never knowledge. It was the translation from spoken to written, and the hour it costs every time.

The system that got out of hand

So I built myself a loop. Every day it asked me a question; I answered out loud for about a minute; and it turned what I said into a growing store of notes — my stories, my opinions, the way I actually phrase things — and then into posts. The more I talked, the more it had to draw on, and the more it sounded like me instead of like everyone else.

It worked embarrassingly well. A few minutes of talking became a week’s worth of content, in my voice, from my real stories — the posts you can read on my own LinkedIn and Substack. At some point the obvious question landed: this isn’t special to me. Every expert I know has the same problem. So I turned the system into a product.

What’s in a name

Suasor is Latin for advisor — the same root English gets persuadefrom. In Rome, you became someone worth seeking out by speaking well in the forum, not by title or birth. Cicero’s spoken words only survived because his secretary, Tiro, invented shorthand to capture them and turn them into published text.

The forum is now LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky. Suasor is the advisor and the shorthand: you speak, it captures, and what you actually said becomes what the public reads. That’s the whole idea — old as Rome, just finally automated.

What I refuse to do

• No words you didn’t say. Suasor shorthands you; it never ghostwrites a stranger. Every line traces back to something you actually said.
• You approve everything.Nothing posts on its own. It’s an advisor — it hands you a draft; you decide. Always.
• Your voice stays yours.Audio is transcribed and discarded, never stored, never used to train anyone’s model.

Who’s behind it

Suasor is an independent product, built and run by me from Vancouver, Canada. It’s not affiliated with anything else I work on — just a tool I needed, made properly.
